Postural Mechanisms in Simpler Animal Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
works for the control of body posture have been analyzed in considerable detail, including identification of main cell types and their interactions. Also, alterations in the activity of postural mechanisms caused by the vestibular deficit (e.g., Refs. 18, 27, 62, 63) or spinal cord injury (46) have been investigated to better understand the postural mechanisms per se and the process of recovery of postural function, and to search means of promoting recovery. Specific aspects of the physiology and pathophysiology of postural control in humans are out of the scope of this paper (for review, see Ref. 38).

Pathogenesis of Epilepsy: Challenges in Animal Models
Epilepsy is one of the most common chronic disorders affecting individuals of all ages. A greater understanding of pathogenesis in epilepsy will likely provide the basis fundamental for development of new antiepileptic therapies that aim to prevent the epileptogenesis process or modify the progression of epilepsy in addition to treatment of epilepsy symptomatically. Therefore, severa...
متن کاملContribution of supraspinal systems to generation of automatic postural responses
Different species maintain a particular body orientation in space due to activity of the closed-loop postural control system. In this review we discuss the role of neurons of descending pathways in operation of this system as revealed in animal models of differing complexity: lower vertebrate (lamprey) and higher vertebrates (rabbit and cat). In the lamprey and quadruped mammals, the role of sp...

Nowadays, there are various animal models of acute and chronic seizures. Some chemical and electrical models such as seizure induced by pentylenetetrazol injection and maximum electric shock has been developed over of six decades and different kinds of chemical, electrical and genetic models have been admitted up to now. Among chemical models of seizure induction penicillin, bicuculline, tetanu...
متن کاملFipronil: mechanisms of action on various organisms and future relevance for animal models studies
Because insects had developed resistance to several insecticides, today, neonicotinoids and fiproles are used to combat pests. The difference between this two classes of insecticides is that fipronil acts by inhibiting the receptors of nervous cells, while neonicotinoids perturbs the neuronal transmission. The suitable properties of fipronil make that its use to be more obvious on the pesticide...
متن کاملA Review of Animal Models of Alzheimer\'s Disease: a brief insight to Pharmacologic and genetic models
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of neurodegenerative disorders. Memory loss in an alert person and impairment in the function of language, attention, perception, judgment or problem solving can occur in patients with AD. However, there are some medications in order to delay the debilitating aspects of the disease; but unfortunately, scientists could not found approaches to cure...
